Word Work
This week we started work with vowel teams ew, ui, ue. Our heart words this week were because, won, again, and every. These are words that do not follow traditional spelling rules. Our FANCY vocabulary words were ’furious', ’imposter', 'courteous' and ’strategy’.
Reading
This week we started book two of the Magic Tree House Series. We are working on creating movies in our head.
Math
We worked with missing addends, created bar graphs and counted money this week. Your student should be able to identify and give the amount for quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies. We are working on counting change up to a dollar. We also learned a new game using shapes and their attributes.
Writer’s Workshop
We started opinion writing this week. Our first project was to write about our favorite pet.
Social/Emotional Learning - Life Skills
With so many exciting events happening in our lives I chose to bring back the life skill of patience this week. It is hard for little people to contain their excitement as the days start to get warmer and spring sports start. We reviewed how important it is to continue to raise our hand so that Mrs Krile can have a chance to hear everyone share.
